Bentham Golf Club: Night Golf
Bentham Golf Club held its first round of night golf over the Easter weekend and I was lucky enough to get out there with my camera to try and capture the fun, and it wasn't easy.
Being in a rural location, when it's night here, it is dark, really dark.
Fortunately the kind people from the Night Golf Company had been and placed illuminated markers down the edge of the fairways, around the greens, and to provide something to aim at, bright blue illuminated flag sticks to mark the position of the holes.
Each player was provided with a head torch and a special glowing golf ball. Judging by the amount of banter and laughter drifting up out of the darkness, everyone had a great time.
Managing the range of light levels proved difficult and the results achieved were interesting.
I would have liked more time for experimentation but with temperatures well below zero out on the course it wasn't the night for standing around.
Having had the opportunity to look at the images on the computer screen I can see where there's room for improvement and have some ideas up my sleeve on how I might achieve them and some other effects.
I'll just have to wait for the next event.
These and other photographs are available to view in the Bentham Golf Club Night Golf Gallery, click here to view.
